Thoughts on Ohio State?: I really thought we had a fighting chance coming into this game, but they threw something we didn't expect at us early and our running game could never get cranked up. If your an offensive lineman, we need you at Tennessee!.
Did
you make any halftime
adjustments?: We made some adjustments to try and stop their passing attack. We slowed them down, but the damage was done by halftime..
Effects
going forward?: We've taken this program another step in the right direction. We obviously still have some growing to do, but at least we're chipping away at the ultimate prize. I expect us to be playing for a conference championship next year and, hopefully, a New Year's Day Bowl.

Georgia Postgame Report; L 13-24
Thoughts on Georgia?: We fell behind at halftime, which is not a situation we are used to. We were forced to make adjustments at halftime and they simply didn't get the job done.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: Defensively we changed some things up in response to their offensive attack. We slowed them down in the second half, but couldn't get our offense cranked up.

Temple Postgame Report; W 41-13
Thoughts on Temple?: We were expecting as tough game from this ranked team and got exactly that in the first half. We adjusted a little defensively in the second half and put them away. I'm proud of this team's killer instinct.

Georgia Tech Postgame Report; W 41-23
Thoughts on Georgia Tech?: We were looking forward to this game due to the fact that we see them on the recruiting trail quite a bit and wanted to show all of next year's class that we are the superior team. Today it just so happened that we were.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: No, unlike the Oklahoma game, we stuck with the game plan in the second half.

Oklahoma Postgame Report; L 16-27
Thoughts on Oklahoma?: We really didn't feel like we were ready for a quality opponent like the Sooners in only our second year at Tennessee. However, these players showed me how resilient they are. If it hadn't been for some panicking by the coaching staff in our halftime adjustments, we would have probably had a better chance of winning. We have to use this as a learning experience going forward.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: We felt like we needed to throw the ball more, when that obviously played into their strengths.
Effects going forward?: We've learned to stick with what works and keep pounding that rock and playing keep away. There's not a team in the nation that can match up with our o-line and running backs.

Season 101 Recruiting Summary
We had 12 scholarships available and approximately $45,000 worth of bowl money in my second season on Rocky Top. Needs for this season included a QB, RB, WR, 2 OL, DL, 2 LB, 3 DB, and a K. We were excited to fill all of our needs with quality players that should contribute by their sophomore years at the latest.
Jason is the 8th rated QB in the nation from Marietta, GA. We anticipate his red-shirting, and being ready to take over the helm of our offense by his Red-shirt Sophomore year.
Robert is the 24th ranked RB out of Casey, IL. He'll certainly see the field at times during his freshman year, but will play a more significant role during his Sophomore campaign.
Michael is the 14th ranked WR out of Charlotte, NC. Like a lot of our other incoming freshman, he will contribute this year, but play a more meaningful role during his second year.
James is the 15th ranked OL out of Sumter, SC. He is expected to be the anchor of the OL even as a freshman.
Scott is the 55th ranked OL out of Chattanooga, TN. He is expected to start as a freshman for the Vols.
Lee is the 59th ranked DL out of Brevard, NC. He is expected to get significant snaps as a freshman.
Randy and Bobby are the 11th and 19th ranked LB's respectively, both hailing from Greenville, SC. Though highly touted, they understand it will likely be their second years on Rocky Top, before they see significant playing time, due to the deep LB corp.
George, Wayne, and Peter are the 15th, 25th, and 41st ranked DB's respectively, hailing from LaGrange, Catawba, and Asheville, NC respectively. We expect big things from them in coming years as they are groomed under the tutelage of our veteran secondary.
Ralph is the 7th ranked K out of Rockingham, NC. Half of this season's signing class came from the Tar Heel state. He is expected to toe the pigskin for the next four seasons.
The Tennessee coaching staff is really excited about our incoming recruits and what the next four years holds for them. We have truly taken the next step in rebuilding this program and restoring it to national prominence. This class finished as the 5th ranked class in the nation.

GMAC Bowl - Boise State Postgame Report; W 34-0
Thoughts on Boise State?: We obviously had some familiarity with them, as we met earlier this year. We took what we were successful with in that game, added what we've developed over the course of the season, and came outwith a dominating formula tonight.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: Primarily on defense. We new they were going to come out in desperation mode in the second half. We looked at some of their previous games when they were in the same situation and built on that.
Effects going forward?: I think this team came out today and made a statement about where we want this program to go in coming years. If we're on your schedule from now on, you'd better watch out!
Sophomore QB, Morganton, NC - Passing - 27/44 for 308 Yds. and 2 TD/0 Int. Rushing - 5 for 3 Yds. and 1 TD

South Carolina Postgame Report; W 30-10
Thoughts on South Carolina?: Teams like Carolina have been giving us fits this year. It was close at the half, but I felt like the fact that we were playing for bowl eligibility and they were not was the difference.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: We stuck with the game plan we've been using since about game eight. Just wearing the other team down and hoping it pays dividends in the fourth quarter. Today it did.
Effects going forward?: It's huge for us to be back in a bowl game after the season these guys had last year. It took awhile, but they finally bought into the system. We're excited to be representing the SEC in the GMAC Bowl against Boise State. We're also looking forward to recruiting next year with the bowl money and a winning season in our back pocket.
Player of the Game:
Sophomore, DL; Nashville, TN - 7 tackles, 2 forced fumbles

Kentucky Postgame Report; W 26-13
Thoughts on Kentucky?: They'd been struggling like we have and we just hope that our approach over the last several games would continue to work. Thankfully, it did!
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: No way. What we've been doing over the last four-five weeks has been effective, so we stuck with it.
Effects going forward?: We're absolutely thrilled to be in a position to become bowl eligible, should we beat Carolina next week. Teams like that have been our Achilles heel so far this season. Hopefully our game plan will continue to serve us well.

Senior RB, Monroe, NC - Rushing: 25 rushes, 227 yards, 1 TD / Receiving: 7 receptions, 43 yards

Vanderbilt Postgame Report; W 34-29
Thoughts on Vanderbilt?: Given that we have never lost to Vandy, there was a lot of pressure on us to keep the streak alive. We almost gave in to the pressure, but luckily we made plays in crunch time to get the win.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: Really, it was more about 4th quarter adjustments. We cranked up the pace and passing aspects of our game in the 4th quarter and got the job done.
Effects going forward?: We have two more very challenging tasks at hand. We'll focus on Kentucky right now and see if we can escape the Bluegrass with a win.
Player of the Game:
Senior WR, Columbia, TN - 6 receptions, 93 yards, 2 TD's

Florida Postgame Report; L 20-23
Thoughts on Florida?: We knew this would be a slobber-knocker going in and it lived up to that expectation.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: We stuck with what got us the lead going into halftime. Unfortunately, we just didn't have the depth to see it through to the end.
Effects going forward?: I like the fact that we're starting to improve and buy in. Hopefully we can win out and at least be eligible for a bowl game.

Georgia Postgame Report; W 27-17
Thoughts on Georgia?: It was really exciting to win a big rivalry game like this, but we have to put it behind us as we have another one with the Gators coming up next.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: Really it was more of what we decided to stick with for the remainder of the year. We're going to shove it down the opponents throats, dare them to stop us, and milk the clock in the process. That obviously worked for us today.
Effects going forward?: Hopefully this plan can net us wins in at least 3 of our next four games and we can play in a minor bowl game and lay the foundation for coming seasons.
Player of the Game:
Senior RB, Monroe, NC - 28 rushes, 138 yards, 1 TD; 6 receptions, 66 yards, 1 TD

Mississippi State Postgame Report; L 28-47
Thoughts on Mississippi State?: We really took a step back today. We can't run te offense the way I'd like so it looks like we're going to have to play ball-control from here on out.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: Sure.
Effects going forward?: Again, ball-control, keep away football and hope we can hang on just to get bowl eligible.
Player of the Game:
Freshman WR, Gastonia, NC - 9 receptions, 76 yards, 2 TD's

Alabama Postgame Report; L 21-42
Thoughts on Alabama?: I'm proud of our guys for not giving up against the defending National Champions. They are where we want to be and I think our guys have seen what it takes to get there.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: We did, but the Tide was just too deep for us to pull them off.
Effects going forward?: All of these young players getting playing time should help down the road.

Senior DB, Madison, TN - 12 Tackles, 1 Pass deflection

Ole Miss Postgame Report; L 2-52
Thoughts on Ole Miss?: It's obvious we were not ready for SEC play today. Give credit to the Rebels, they came and spanked our tail in all facets of the game today.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: Our young men are not mentally strong enough to play at the caliber they need to in order to win in this league. I told you it was going to be a rebuilding project and this certainly proves it.
Effects going forward?: Find a way to win.
Player of the Game:
Freshman LB, Alpena, MI - 13 Tackles

Purdue Postgame Report; L 3-22
Thoughts on Purdue?: I'm not concerned with Purdue, I'm concerned with Tennessee. We came out today lifeless. I suppose the only bright spot might be the defense. The offense kept putting them in bad spots, but they kept fighting.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: We certainly did, but the lack of execution negated any changes we made.
Effects going forward?: We've started a streak, but it's just not the right kind. We have to keep working on Tennessee and right the ship before it's too late.

Junior LB, Jackson, TN - 10 Tackles, 1 Forced fumble

Iowa State Postgame Report; L 13-24
Thoughts on Iowa State?: This is a day that will live in infamy for me, and hopefully, for our team. It's going to be tough to pick ourselves off of the floor after this one, but we have to do it in short order. You have to win games like this to even be bowl eligible and at this point I can questions even that as a possibility..
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: We tried to change some things up, but between our mistakes and their adjustments, it wasn't enough. They simply had an answer for everything today.
Effects going forward?: We have to approach it as if this were the last game of last season and we are about to start a new season. If we dwell on this, we won't amount to much of anything going forward.
Player of the Game:
Freshman LB, Alpena, MI - 6 Tackles, 3 Sacks

Akron Postgame Report; W 44-24
Thoughts on Akron?: Thankfully their strengths, team strength and elusiveness, are the same as our strengths. With that being said, we are a little stronger and a little more elusive. That showed in the first half, which allowed us to build a big lead. Luckily, we had just enough depth to hold them off as they made a run in the second half.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: Not really. Given our big lead at the half, we pretty much kept the same game plan. Hunt had another big day running the ball and added some big time receptions out of the backfield. Things really slowed down for Spencer after the snap and he had a monster day throwing the ball.
Effects going forward?: We're going to focus on self improvement during these last two non conference games. We don't want to get too fancy and show Kentucky or our other conference foes our full hand just yet.
Feelings about dropping out of the Top 25 after Week 2?: I saw where they had us in the mid thirties. I feel like that's about right and where we will probably finish the year. I hope I'm wrong, but we're just making too many mistakes right now and don't have the depth to compensate for it.
Player of the Game:
Juan Hunt
Sophomore QB, Morganton, NC - Passing - 26 of 38 for 366 Yds. and 4 TD. Rushing - 12 for 26 Yds.

Boise State Postgame Report; W 34-22
Thoughts on DePaul?: Going into this game we didn't have much info on them and really weren't concerned much about them. They certainly proved us wrong, going into halftime with a seven point lead.
Did you make any halftime adjustments?: We were doing some things in the first half that were stressing our Linebackers and Defensive Line. We made those changes in the locker room and it obviously helped us out as we only allowed a field goal in the second half. Offensively, we tried to do some things to open up our running game. Our running backs certainly got more touches, and although they couldn't break the big one, it opened up our passing game.
Effects going forward?: We'll take what we learned from this game and use it for the remainder of our non-conference schedule. It was a good learning experience for us. I'll be really disappointed if this situation repeats itself over the next four games.

DePaul Postgame Report; W 34-27
Thoughts on DePaul?: Going into this game we didn't have much info on them and really weren't concerned much about them. They certainly proved us wrong, going into halftime with a seven point lead.

Season 100 Recruiting Summary
I had 11 scholarships available and no bowl money, as this was my inaugural season on Rocky Top. Needs for this season included a WR, TE, OL, 3 DL, 3 LB, and 2 DB's.
We're really excited about what Johnny can do the minute he steps on campus. It's a rare occasion that you can sign a Top 25 recruit and we are fortunate enough that we were able to do that twice this season.
John is our second Top 25 signee and we expect him to see plenty of snaps this season.
Joseph and Clarence are expected to come in and seal up a defensive unit that struggled last year. It will be more important than we anticipated as we were unable to sign any DL in this class and will have very little depth at that position. They are going to have to cheat up and make a lot of plays at the line of scrimmage.
Andrew and Kenneth are also anticipated to get significant snaps in the secondary. Assuming we can stop the run, they will be called upon to shut down the deep passing game.
The fact that we were only able to fill just over one half of our scholarships this year simply means the opportunity for early playing time next season will be even more of a reality for incoming elite recruits. The Vols had the 37th ranked recruiting class in Season 100, up 14 spots from the previous season and the highest in six seasons, with four 4 star recruits.

Fresh start at University of Tennessee -- martini35504 named new head football coach - MSNBC
In my 39th season of Gridiron Dynasty, I take over at Tennessee, whose last 3 coaches have averaged 5 to 6
seasons and has cracked the top 25 only 3 times in the last 15 seasons and the
top 10 only 3 times in the last thirty.
Team was fifth in total player rating in the SEC (after I
cut 3 SIM players). Previous year’s team was ranked 53rd in total
roster rank by GUESS reports and 51st in recruit class rank. I will have to cut five more SIM players over the course of the next two years to achieve a roster that has been fully recruited by human coaches.
In my previous 38 seasons I have coached at DIII Hampden-Sydney, DII Pace, DI-AA Stephen F. Austin and Jackson State, and DI TCU, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, and Colorado. Although I only won two conference championships during that time, I always coached in DI conferences that had a number of elites. I look forward to being able to recruit with relative ease at my first elite and ending the revolving door of coaches on Rocky Top.
